POLSON SHOOTERS ASSOCIATION GUN RANGE
RULES, POLICIES & OPERATING PROCEDURES

PREAMBLE:
These Member & Non-member Rules, Policies & Operating Guidelines (hereafter referred to as the
“Rules“) serve to complement the Polson Shooters Association Rules (hereafter referred to as “PSA”)
regarding the management, operation, use & enjoyment of the PSA Range. These Rules may be
periodically reviewed and amended by the Board of Directors.
Failure to comply with the following rules, policies and procedures may result in suspension or
revocation of range privilege’s as determined by the Board of Directors
I Hours of Operation
A) Club hours of operation are subject to revision by the Board of Directors as the season or
occasion may warrant. Any changes will be posted in the Clubhouse.
Current hours of operation:
Members with or without guests:
8.00 AM to Dusk or 8.00 PM whichever comes first. Seven days a week.
Public:
Hours are Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday 12.00 PM (noon) to 5.00 PM or by agreement with
the Lake County Commissioners.
The PSA reserves the right to close the range at any time and/or for any reason.
II General Rules
The following rules have been compiled for Member & Non-member convenience and for the
greater enjoyment of the PSA facilities.
ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to shoot.
ALWAYS know your target and what is beyond it.
A) The Range Safety Officer or Range Officer (hereafter referred to as the RSO
or RO) is in direct charge of the range at all times.
B) Types of Memberships – Individual membership, Family Membership which consist of
(Spouse and Children 18 years of age and under)
C) GUESTS – Members are expected to restrict the number of guests to a reasonable number.
Members should not bring more guests to shoot at PSA, at any one time, than they can
personally supervise. Members are personally responsibility for their guest(s) & expected to
acquaint their guest(s) with all PSA rules, policies, operating guidelines, including safety rules.
No guest(s) will be allowed to use PSA facilities if, in judgment of the RSO, such use is
dangerous, disruptive and disturbing to other members and quests or not in the best interest of
the PSA.
D) PETS – Pets are to be on a leash at all times and are the total responsibility of the owner.
E) CHILDREN – Members and guests bringing minor children (under 18 years of age) to the PSA
facilities are responsible for their conduct & safety. Members must accompany, control, oversee
and directly supervise their children at all times, anywhere on PSA property.
F) NON-SHOOTING ACTIVITIES – Are not allowed without prior approval of the Board
Members.
G) COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS AND REGULATIONS – Members and guests must comply
with all applicable federal, state, local laws and ordinances and PSA rules.
H) MEMBER CONDUCT – Violations of any applicable federal, state, local laws, ordinances or
PSA rules, or any behavior or conduct in a manner contrary to the best interest of PSA, its
overall membership will result in disciplinary action by PSA.
I) SHOTGUNS are allowed on the rifle range only. You MUST have your own target and clean
up the mess afterwards. NO PSA targets or holders can be used with shotguns or pistols which
fire a shotgun shell. Aerial targets are prohibited. This is for a trial period; if any PSA targets or
property is damaged by shotguns the rule will be suspended.
J) Shooters are to pick up all their brass, aluminum, & steel cases. Brass & steel cases can be
placed in buckets in the club house. Shooters are also to pick up and remove their trash.
K) When the range is at full capacity, shooters will be limited to one half hour of shooting time per
session.
L) No beer, alcoholic beverages or drugs allowed on PSA property.
M) Hunting and dog training is prohibited on PSA property.
III FIREARMS SAFETY – RULES & REGULATIONS

ALWAYS know your target and what is beyond it.
A) All firearms must be cased, holstered or have their actions opened when the firearms are being
carried or handled. All firearms must be unloaded, cased, or holstered when transferring from a
vehicle to the firing line and from the firing line to the vehicle.
B) Muzzles of all firearms must be pointed in a safe direction (Down range or straight up) at all
times.
C) Firearms shall remain open and must not be loaded until ready to use on a given range.
D) No firearm shall be handled in any way while individuals are down range.
E) When the rifle range is cold (closed for target repair ETC) the pistol range will also be cold.
F) Rifle range may remain hot while the pistol range is cold.
G) All shooters, RSO personal, and spectators should wear safety glasses and hearing protection
while on or near any shooting range. You assume all responsibility for any injury that you incur
by not wearing adequate eye and ear protection.
H) Shooting of firearms shall be from designated PSA shooting stations or in accordance with PSA
Rules and Regulations.
I) When on the firing line all muzzles must be pointed down range at all times. No firearms are
permitted in front of the firing line. This excludes the RSO & CRO and Training.
J) Firearms must be unloaded, with the action open or cased while not actively in use on the firing
line.
K) Shooters are to be completely familiar with the operation of their firearm. Shooters are to insure
the use of the correct ammunition for the firearm in use.
IV RIFLE AND PISTOL RANGE REGULATIONS

ALWAYS know your target and what is beyond it.
The following rules are specific to the rifle and pistol range and in addition to other PSA
policies and basic safety rules. There will be absolutely no tolerance for not following these rules or of
any abuse of the facilities.
Noncompliance with any of the following rules may result in a loss of range privileges.
A) During non-member shooting hours members with guest(s) and non-members must check in
with the RSO prior to going to any range station. Non-members and guests (18 and over) will be
required to pay a daily range fee for shooting.
B) Members are fully responsible for the actions of their guests. Members must oversee the
activities of their guest(s) at all times. You must be at the shooting position or the adjacent
position. Having your guest(s) shooting on the hand gun range while you are shooting on the
rifle is not acceptable.
C) A member and his/her guest(s) may occupy no more than two shooting positions at any
one time. When the range is busy the member and his/her guest(s) may be required to use one
shooting position.
D) Never shoot at any support posts, range markers or target frame legs.
E) Shoot only at the target corresponding to your shooting position.
F) Fully automatic & bump stock firearms are allowed on the rifle range; however you
cannot use PSA targets. You must use your own targets; under no circumstance are PSA
targets to be used and you clean up any mess. This is for a trial period and subject to
review.
G) Any type of fast draw or quick draws is prohibited. Drawing from a holster, aiming and
Shooting are acceptable.
H) Guns may only be loaded and fired at your shooting position.
I) Before shooters goes down range, on a specific range, all shooters are required to request the
range be cooled. Make certain that all other shooters on the range acknowledge that you
are going down range and have removed all magazines, unloaded all guns, opened all
actions, and moved away from the shooting positions.
J) When anyone is down range all firearms should be on the benches with actions open. Under no
circumstance is anyone allowed to handle a firearm or related equipment.
K) Loading & unloading of any firearm is permitted only in the shooting lane & with the muzzle
pointed down range.
L) NO ONE is to go forward of the firing line when the range is HOT.
M) USE OF RANGE FACILITIES FOR INSTRUCTION, CLASSES AND TRAINING OR
OTHER USES WHERE A USER FEE MAY BE REQUIRED.
Requires prior approval of the Board of Directors and the fees for use of the facility
shall be determined by the Board of Directors for each approved activity
