Personal Protection Inside the Home

NOTE TO INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES:
Successful completion of the NRA Basics of Personal Protection Inside the Home is a prerequisite for the Instructor Course.

Class Overview:
The NRA’s Basics of Personal Protection Inside the Home class is meant to develop the basic knowledge, skills & attitude essential to the safe & efficient use of a firearm for protection of self & family, & to provide information on the law-abiding citizen’s right to self-defense.

This course is one full day & may be taken by law-abiding US citizens & legal, permanent resident aliens, as defined by applicable federal, state &/or local law.

Prerequisite: This course is for experienced shooters who have an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certification, NRA Pistol Competition Qualification course or current law enforcement. If you do not qualify under these guidelines, please contact me to see if you qualify under other guidelines.

Introduction to Defensive Shooting
Basic Defensive Pistol Skills
Firearms and the Law: Possession
Ownership & the Use of Deadly Force
Strategies for Home Safety & Responding to a Violent Confrontation
Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense
Sport Shooting Activities & Training Opportunities

You will need to provide:
Payment for class will be due at start of class. Cash or check only.
A lunch
Eye & ear protection
Your pistol (The NRA recommends a minimum of 9 mm for semi-auto or .38 Special for revolver. But bring what you can shoot comfortably & reliably.)*
Your Owner’s Manual (if you have one)
200 Rounds of ammunition (minimum) *

Shooting exercises are conducted at an outdoor range. Please dress appropriately. Eye & ear protection is required. Hot brass can blister. Flip-flops, sandals & bare feet will not be allowed. You must wear full-coverage shoes such as tennis shoes.
